Flowers & your Wedding Budget?

Questions about your flowers and wedding budget?

It’s perfectly ok not to know flower names, availably of flowers and even what color they grow in.  The florist/event planner you choose will have a professional wedding consultant on staff to help guild you thru this process.

Engaged couples frequently ask questions about the cost and responsibility of their wedding flowers. Here are a few suggestions to help you save money.

  • Pick flowers that are in season
    • In season choices are readily available from local markets and will not require costly shipping. To help you control the expenses remember if you like bulb flowers: such as tulips, jonquils etc. set your wedding date in the spring months rather than summer or fall.  These bulb flowers may be available in other seasons but at a much higher price.
  • Smaller Wedding Party
    • Keeping the number of Bridesmaids and Groomsmen’s down will lower the amount of bouquets and boutonnieres you will need. Instead of stretching your budget to cover a larger group of people choose a small group and feel free to explore all the floral possibilities!
  • Church and Reception Decorations
    • Always check with your florist/event planner to see if they have rental decorations that will fit within you theme. Stretch you dollars by not purchasing floral decorations for the church when you can Rent them! At the reception vases, props, linens and more can be rented rather than purchased.
    • So remember before you purchase items you may never use again check to see if renting is a better deal!

Traditional rationale for floral expenses:

The groom’s family expenses include …

  • Rehearsal dinner decorations
  • Bridal bouquet
  • All boutonnieres except grooms
  • Parental corsages

The Bride’s family expenses include…

  • Bridesmaid’s bouquets
  • Grooms boutonniere
  • Church decorations
  • Reception decorations

Keep in mind many couples are waiting longer to get married and the traditional rules can no longer apply! To help you with your wedding budget download our wedding budget planner today.
